Help & FAQ
Getting started
- Install Azan Home from Google Play on your Android TV or Google TV.
- Open it and allow the requests that appear:
- Location so prayer times match where you are.
- Display over other apps so the Azan screen appears while you're watching something else.
- Alarms & reminders (Android 14 and newer) so the Azan plays exactly on time.
- Check that the city shown at the top is right. If it isn't, see below.
Frequently asked questions
The city or prayer times are wrong.
Most TVs don't have GPS, so Azan Home estimates your location from your internet connection or from your TV's time zone. For exact times, go to Settings → Location → Select City. You can also change Settings → Calculation Method to match your local mosque.
The Azan played late, or didn't play.
Make sure Alarms & reminders is allowed: TV Settings → Apps → Special app access → Alarms & reminders → Azan Home. Also check that the Azan is on for that prayer in Settings → Azan Alerts. Some TVs fully power down in standby; if yours does, the Azan can't play while it's off.
The Azan plays, but the full screen doesn't appear.
Allow Display over other apps: TV Settings → Apps → Special app access → Display over other apps → Azan Home.
Does Azan Home need the internet?
Prayer times and the Azan work offline. Quran recitations are streamed, so they need an internet connection.
How do I stop the Azan or the Quran?
Press OK on the Stop button, or Back on your remote.
How do I find a reciter?
Open Quran, press Up to reach the search box, and type or speak the name. Spelling doesn't need to be exact: “Sudais,” “Alsudaes,” and “Al-Sudais” all work.
How do I add a reciter to my favorites?
On the Quran screen, hold OK on a reciter's name. Favorites appear at the top of every reciter list.
I can't find a reciter I know.
By default Azan Home lists reciters with complete, high-quality recordings. To see all of them, go to Settings → Reciter List → Reciters: All. Reciters you star always stay in the list.
How do Friday Quran and Daily Quran work?
In Settings, choose a reciter, the time, how many surahs to play, and the surah to start at (or Random). Friday Quran plays every Friday (Surah Al-Kahf by default); Daily Quran plays on the days you choose. Use Play now to try it.
What is the cannon before Maghrib?
During Ramadan, Azan Home plays a short iftar cannon sound before the Maghrib Azan, a tradition in many countries. Ramadan dates are calculated and may differ by a day from local moon sighting.
Is Azan Home free?
Yes, free, with no ads, subscriptions or accounts.
